JIMMIE LEE DEMPSEY of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away on Nov. 19, 2016. He was of Baptist faith. He was born on February 24, 1936 to the late Smith and Ruby Dempsey in North Little Rock. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jimmy Joe Dempsey; three brothers, Edward "Jack" Dempsey, Earl "Mickey" Dempsey and Bobby "Jerl" Dempsey; and one sister Velma Dempsey. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gloria Dempsey; one son, Johnny Dempsey; three daughters, Cindy (Mike) Yancey, Susie Singletary and Sharon (Nicky) Barnett; one sister, Ruby (Bryant) Allen; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, along with a host of friends and relatives. Jimmie was a lifetime resident of North Little Rock. He was a member of the Bakers and Confectioners Union for over 40 years and worked at Meyers Bakery, Wonder Bakery and Merico before he retired. After retiring, Jimmie enjoyed his morning coffee with his friends at the VFW club on East Broadway. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and water sports, especially on Lake Ouachita and at Willow Beach. Visitation will be from 4PM to 6PM on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, AR (501)791-7400. Graveside service will be at 3PM on, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Mountain Springs Cemetery, Hwy 5, Cabot, AR., with Reverend Dale Scott officiating.
