Muriel Tyler Ogdon

Muriel Tyler Ogdon of Sherwood, Arkansas, age 87, passed away due to complications of Alzheimer's dementia on July 31, 2017. Muriel was born in Quitman, Arkansas on December 25, 1929. She was preceded by her husband, Thomas William Ogdon; her granddaughter, Laura Ogdon; ten brothers and sisters; and her parents, Oliver and Ada Rice Tyler of Quitman. Muriel is survived by her sister, Fern Tyler Corbitt of Conway, Arkansas; her children, Janice Ogdon Emerson of Azle, Texas, David Ogdon of Memphis, Tennessee and Brice Ogdon of Jacksonville, Arkansas. Muriel has five grandchildren: Curtis Emerson, Emily Emerson-Yang, Richard Ogdon, Tyler Ogdon and Dorothy Ogdon May. She has one great-granddaughter, Rylee Ogdon. Muriel was retired from AT&T (Alcatel Lucent). She and her husband, Thomas, enjoyed activities with the German- American Club, the American Country Dance Society, the Pioneers Club and the Pulaski County Republican Party. Muriel and Thomas worshipped at their neighborhood church, Kellogg Valley Baptist Church in Gravel Ridge. Muriel's husband, Thomas, was a WWII Veteran. Her maternal grandfather, John Calvin Rice, was a Civil War Veteran. Muriel was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter at Heber Springs. Visitation will be Friday, August 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and services Saturday, August 5, at 10 a.m., both at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
