Alfred Jack Burney

Alfred Jack Burney Sr., age 82, of Hot Springs passed away on, Wednesday, August 9, 2017. He was born December 12, 1934 to the late, Alfred and Ann Burney. Jack graduated from Little Rock High School. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the director of Intramural Athletics. Upon graduation he worked for Cities Service Oil Corporation from 1957 to 1966. Jack later worked for Frank Lynn Company until he opened his own company, Burney-Neal Distributors. After six years he sold Burney-Neal Distributors and bought 555 Distributing and Adcock Lighting. He was awarded numerous sales award throughout his career. Jack was a proud member of the Wilson Tigers and a lifelong supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a member of the Broyles-Matthews Foundation, the Natural Park Rotary Club, Pacesetters Dancers Club and was a volunteer reader at Langston Elementary School. Jack was a charter member of Garvin Gardens, a life loyal Sigma Chi and a lifelong member of the University of Arkansas Alumni Association. Jack is survived by his wife, Linda Burney; sons, Jack(Christy) Burney, Brad (Mary Catherine) Burney; daughter, Bitsi Burney; stepdaughters, Michele (John) Nelson and Lainie (Bryan) Spence; grandchildren, Hayley (Jordan) Bradford, Jackson, Erin, Blake and Wesley Burney, Preston Pyron, Georgia and Jack Nelson and Sheffield Spence. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St Luke Episcopal Church, 228 Spring Street, Hot Springs, Ark. 71901 with a reception to follow.
