Mrs. Bettye Jean Horne, age 93 of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Mrs. Horne was a native of Sevier County and De Queen, Arkansas and was born on June 24, 1924 to Dr. Richard C. Dickinson and Belle (Gray) Dickinson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon, where she served on numerous committees. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and held a clinical pathology degree from the National Association of Clinical Pathologist in Kansas City, Missouri. Mrs. Horne and her late husband, Autrey founded the Horne Funeral Home in Gurdon, in 1953. They worked side by side until they sold the business in 1990. She was a former Secretary and Treasurer of Horne Burial Association and was a former officer and director of the Fidelity Standard Life Insurance Company. She is preceded in death by her parents; Dr. Richard C. and Belle Dickinson, her three brothers; Dr. Roger C. Dickinson, Dr. Bill Dickinson and Dr. Gordon Gray Dickinson, and a sister; Juanita Dean. Survivors include; her daughter; Lisa Box and husband, Dr. James Box of Little Rock, her sister; Flo Dickinson of Horatio, two grandchildren; Tyler Box of Little Rock, and Whitney Foster of Little Rock, and two great-grandchildren; Landon and Olivia Foster. Visitation is one hour before the service, starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at First United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 2nd and Walnut St., Gurdon, Ark. Bro. Travis Langley and Bro. Donnie Hudson will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon. Arrangements are by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope, Eddie Brazzel, Director.
