Dorothy M. Hollerman is now in the presence of our loving Creator. She passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at St. Vincent ‘s CHI in Little Rock at the age of 82. She was born October 17, 1934 to the late Martin & Tyree Young. Also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers. At a young age she professed her hope in Christ as a member of St. Andrew AME Church and later joined Bethel AME Church, North Little Rock. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1953 and Philander Smith College with a B.A in Business Administration and attended graduate school towards her MBA at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She also worked for the State Department of Adult Education and Higher Education. Her career included owning the Children's Castle Day Care Center, Instructor of Business Education at Shorter College and Arkansas Baptist College. Dorothy was truly an advocate and inspiration for education. Loving known as "Big Mama" and Aunt Dot to her beloved grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her love for family and friends was expressed by serving delicious Sunday and holiday dinners with elegance, tutoring in her home and providing a place to live for students while attending college or just a place of refuge in time of need. She will be sadly missed by those who loved her. Dorothy is survived by her husband, William H. Hollerman of Gallatin, Tenn.; a daughter, Margaret Ann Baltz, Little Rock; granddaughter, Carletta (Vonzell) Hill; two sisters, Ms. Cora Young and Mrs. Grace Young Morris of Little Rock; and a cousin, Ms. Verma Simmons. Visitation at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 5th, 6-7 p.m., and funeral services Wednesday, Sept. 6, 11 a.m. at Bethel A.M.E Church, 600 N. Cedar, North Little Rock.
