John Paul Nutt Jr., age 72, of Benton passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017. He was born December 2, 1944 in Camden, Ark. to late John Paul Nutt Sr. and Thelma Pennington Nutt. John was a 1962 graduate of Camden Fairview High School and attended Southern State University in Magnolia where he majored in Chemistry. In his 4th year at Southern State he joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi for a year for tech school studying Electronics. After tech school he was sent to Yokota A. F. B. in Japan where he spent the next three years. He became interested in electrical engineering while in Japan, he began taking courses through the U of A in Fayetteville. After leaving the air Force, he went to U of A in Fayetteville to finish his degree in electrical engineering where he graduated number two in his class. John later retired from Alcoa. John attended the Spring Creek Baptist Church. John loved driving his tractor out on his land, traveling, reading and classical music. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Annette Prince Nutt, two step-sons, Jim Simpson (Sheri), Benton; Tim Simpson (Sarah), Paron; step-grandson, Mickey Kendal Simpson, Tyndell A.F.B. Panama City, Florida; sisters, Virginia Tripplett (Doug), Springdale; Brenda Martin (Greg), Conway; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to National Lupus Foundation, National Kidney Foundation or the National Liver Foundation. Family gives a special thanks to Dr. Kevin Heifner with Renal Associates in Little Rock, Dr. Mary Ann Harrington with CARTI, Dr. David McLereath, Dr. James Abraham, with Little Rock Diagnostic Clinic. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Spring Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday before the services. Online guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
