Quam Worth Neal

Mr. Quam Worth Neal, resident of Parkin, departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Crossridge Community Hospital in Wynne, at the age of 86. He was born in Norphlet on Monday, December 22, 1930, the son of Ishmal Worth Neal and Gladys (Wootan) Neal. Mr. Neal was a 1948 graduate of Parkin High School, and attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College on a football scholarship. In November 1950, he was drafted into the United States Army, and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged in November 1952. Quam served on the Little Rock Fire Department from 1953 to 1957, and worked as a fleet manager for General Motors Corporation for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. Quam and Pat Wood were united in marriage on June 27, 1995. He was an avid outdoorsman. He had a passion for fishing and hunting, and loved golfing. He was a member of the Parkin United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tracy Thomas Neal; a stepdaughter, Jackie Massanelli; a brother, Larry Neal; and a sister, Emma Jo Oholendt. Quam is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Pat W. Neal of the home; a son, William Todd Neal of Shreveport, Louisiana; a daughter, Jennifer Marnnette Neal Sullivan of Houston, Texas; a stepson, Wally Jackson of Jonesboro; two stepdaughters, Janice Croom of Jonesboro and Bernee Thurow and husband, Rick, of Little Rock; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, at Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral Home with Pastor Melvin Mann officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Parkin Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Lance Sisk, Todd Sisk, Tres Hamrick, Greg Hendrix, Trent Sides, and Wesley Lott.
