William C. Saunders, 89, went to be with the Lord while at home on December 4, 2017. He was born in Norman Arkansas, to Alford and Nell Jetter Saunders on June 6, 1928. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Olivia and Burt Jeter, parents, William and Nell, and three grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Etta M. Saunders of Conway, Ark.; daughters, Sandra Collins of Conway, Ark., Terri Millsap of Dyer Ark., sons, Robert Saunders of St. Paul, Ark., Curtis Nickel of San Antonio, Texas and Dennis Nickel of Uvalde, Texas, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. MSG Saunders was a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany at the end of WWII, during the Korean conflict, and completed 2 tours in Vietnam. While home, he proudly served as a sergeant in ROTC at The University of Houston, The State College of Arkansas (UCA) and Nickel State University in Louisiana. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, DAV Chapter 10 and VFW post 2259. He was also a member of the Faulkner-County Armature Radio Club. We would like to thank Dr. MaryJo Shaver and Dr. Brad Tilley for there support and comfort near the end of his life and Davita & Kindred Hospice for their support. Roller-McNutt Funeral Home will be taking care of the arrangements. There will be a visitation on Friday, December 8th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a grave side service on Saturday, December 9th at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers please give to organizations that support our veterans.
