Margaret Jean Burks, 83, of North Little Rock, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. She was born in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas on June 6, 1934 and was the daughter of Lacy and Elba (Lanier) Wilf. Margaret taught school at Piggott, Arkansas in the 1950's before moving to Batesville where she taught at First Presbyterian Day School in the 1960's. Later she taught business at Batesville High School for over 40 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, WRMC Auxiliary, and Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by her son, Richard Ellis Burks and wife, Sandra, of Southlake, Texas; daughters, Rebecca Anne Lee of Batesville, Robin Reynolds and husband, Britt, of North Little Rock; five grandchildren, Mandy Le and husband, T, Melissa Millsap, Matt Millsap and wife, Megan, Ryan Burks, Alex Reynolds (special friend); three great-grandchildren, Jake Millsap, Olivia Grace Le, and Adrien Millsap. Other survivors include her brother, James Wilf and wife, Glenda, of Texarkana, Texas. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arvie "Bubba" Ellis Burks; and a brother, Harold Lynn Wilf. Pallbearers will be Britt Reynolds, Matt Millsap, and Jake Millsap. Honorary pallbearers are Alex Reynolds, Willie Strong, Aliene McCracken, Kathy Kibe, and Betty Cowden. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Batesville with Rev. Leslie Roper officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church until service time. A private burial will be held at a later date.
