Sylvester Charles Guist

Sylvester Charles Guist, age 62, a resident of Fayetteville, Ark., was received by the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, while at home. He was born March 16, 1955 in Fayetteville, Ark., the son of Sylvester Winfield Guist and Lois (Martha) Ward Guist. He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Winfield Guist. He retired from the United States Postal Service in Springdale, Ark., after 34 years of service. He enjoyed elk and deer hunting, as well as, fishing on the Illinois River, for many years with his late father. He was a loyal Arkansas Razorback fan; he loved those "Hawgs" and was known to call them in his sleep. He was a loving husband, son, father, papa and friend. Survivors include his mother, Lois Guist, his wife of 43 years, Carol Ann Maxwell Guist, their three daughters and families, a sister, Aulois Johnson and family, a brother, Jim Guist and family. His children and grandchildren are as follows; daughter, Christa Jo Guist Roy and son-in-law, Thomas Clark Trimble Roy of Prairie Grove, their children, Paxton Charles and Mia; daughter, Tamara Lasha Guist Lewis and son-in-law, Herbert Anderson Lewis IV of Fayetteville, their children, Cayden, Addye, Kynzie and Charlie; daughter, Amy Nicole Guist Hickman and son-in-law, Zachary Thomas Hickman of Fayetteville; their children, Zayde and Azaylee. Visitation will be held from 1–2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Farmington, Rheas Mill Road, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m., at the church. A private burial will take place at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Fayetteville, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
