Mae Frances Nix of Little Rock, passed away December 17, 2017. She was born in Midway, Arkansas (Hot Spring County) on February 10, 1925. Miss Nix was the only child of the late John Wiley and Carrie Octava (Hughes) Nix. She was a Baptist. At the time of death, she was a member of Parkway Place Baptist Church, Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from Friendship High School in 1940 and received her BA degree from Henderson State University in 1948. In 1954, she graduated from Vanderbilt University Peabody College with an MA degree in library science. Her career as a practicing librarian included the following: Magnet Cove High School; Smackover High School; The Public Library of Camden and Ouachita County; Hall High School (Little Rock); and Hendrix College (Conway). She retired in 1986 after ten years at the Arkansas State Library, five years as the Arkansas State Librarian. She is survived by several cousins, including Evelyn (Orr) Phelan and a host of friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Pastor Allan Greer officiating.
