Robert F Black 'Bob', age 81 of Sherwood, Ark., passed away December 17, 2017. Son of the late Alton S. Black and Dorothy Mowatt Black, he was born in Limington, Maine. Bob is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Barbara Koehler Black; daughter, Tracy Black Whitted (husband Mark); and grandsons, Duncan and Christopher Whitted, all of Allen, Texas; and granddaughter, Alex Epperson, of Little Rock; his brother, Earl Black (wife Rita), of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased, by his daughter, Tamyra Black Epperson; a brother Alton Black, Jr. and; sisters Ellen Black Brulotte and Shirley Black Dertinger. Sherwood was his home for most of his adult life and a large part of his retirement years in Harrison, Ark. Among his life careers, was serving 8 years in the US Air Force and nearly 25 years as a Subway Franchisee, having stores in Little Rock, Jacksonville, and Harrison. He loved family, fishing and driving or flying anything that moved, including airplanes, trains, tanks, boats, tractors, and restored 1935 Fire Engine, etc. He had a great sense of humor and a cheerful demeanor and got great joy out of making others smile. He was a 32nd degree mason, a member of Sylvan Hills lodge #754; a member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church, where he served over the years in various roles but always sang bass in the choir, and with special groups. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 23rd at 2 p.m. at Sylvan Hills UMC, 9921 Hwy. 107, Sherwood, Ark. with visitation in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Cremation is handled by Smith-Sherwood with interment at a later date in Arkansas Veterans Cemetery, Maryland Ave., North Little Rock.
