James "Jim" Malcolm Thompson Jr.

James "Jim" Malcolm Thompson Jr., 87, of Rogers, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville. He was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Fort Smith, Ark., the son of Rachel Wilson and James Malcolm Thompson Sr. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Village Service Station located in Bella Vista for many years. He was a member of The Foothills of the Ozarks Car Club and American Street Rod Association. He was preceded in death by: his parents, two brothers, and one daughter; Janet. Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Thompson, whom he married May 5, 1986, one son; James M. Thompson III and his wife Suzanne, of Bentonville, three daughters; Julie Holloway and her husband John, of Hiwasse, Jody Latham and her husband Steve, of Rogers, Joni Peterson and her husband David, of Bella Vista, his sister-in-law; Gerry Thompson, of Wichita, Kan., one sister; Phyllis Graves, of Wichita, Kan., one dear friend; Jeff Blakesley, of Bentonville, nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at A Church of New Hope, located at 2125 West New Hope in Rogers. A celebration of Jim's life will be Wednesday 10 a.m. at A Church of New Hope in Rogers. Interment will follow at Benton County Memorial Park located in Rogers. Memorials may be sent to: Circle of Life Hospice House, 901 Jones Rd., Springdale, Ark., 72764.
