Charles Pruitt

Charles Spencer Pruitt Sr., 79, known to his friends as Charlie and his players and grandkids as "Pop", went home to his Lord Sunday, December 24' following a massive heart attack. Charlie was born in North Little Rock on July 11, 1938, the son of James S. Pruitt, Sr. and Mary Hild Pruitt. He grew up in Smackover, Ark. in a time when you could go out to play in the morning and return home for supper. He loved football and was an All-State player for the Buckaroos. He met the love of his life, Lynda Barker, at age 15, and they were together for the next 64 years, 61 of them as husband and wife. Charlie was an amazing dad to his four sons, Charles Spencer Pruitt, Jr., "Chip" (Lyn); Rusty Pruitt (Terri); Jamie Pruitt (Julie); and Doug Pruitt (Nancy). Charlie was also a beloved "Pop" to his 12 grandchildren: Jessica Koehler (David), Spencer, Mary Mickel (Wes), Jay, Whit (Alyssa), Ryne (Alyssa), Nathan (Emily), Rachel, Natalie, Sterling (Karlee), Melody, Chandler; and two great-grandchildren, Hana and Samara. He coached football and track, and taught math for over 27 years, the last 14 at Robinson High School, where he impacted countless students through the years as a coach, teacher, and Christian mentor. He taught a men's Bible Study for over 40 years at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. He loved his family, his church family, and many friends. Celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 29th at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., at the church. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the building fund of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock, the building fund of Midtowne Church in Benton, Arkansas, or the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home Boys' Ranch.
