Frank H. Poindexter

Dr. Frank H. Poindexter, age 65, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2017. Frank was born on June 15, 1952, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to Frank and Cora Belle Poindexter. Frank graduated from Dollarway HS in 1971, and received a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Central Arkansas in 1976, and completed his Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of Central Arkansas in 1979. Frank taught music at Mt. St. Mary High School in Little Rock, Ark., from 1976-1981. After moving to New York in 1984, Frank completed a Master of Education in 1988, and Master of Arts in 1989, from Columbia University. Frank then studied the art of Organ Registration and Composition and received his Doctor of Education from Columbia University in 1990. During his career as a musician, Frank was the Principal Organist at several churches and cathedrals in NYC. Frank is survived by his three sisters, Gwen Henry, White Hall, Ark., Cathy Walker, White Hall, Ark., and Carole Grace Kozak, Little Rock, Ark., and three nephews, Seth Henry, Huntsville, Ala., Drew Walker, Fayetteville, Ark., and Caleb Mazzanti, White Hall, Ark., and a niece, Allison Mazzanti, Conway, Ark. A memorial service for Frank was held at the Church of the Mediator, Bronx, N.Y. on Dec. 6, 2017.
