Mr. Joe Cephas Smith, 91, of Collierville, Tenn., (formerly of Little Rock, Ark.) passed away on Dec. 26, 2017. Mr. Smith graduated from Dallas County Training School, Fordyce, Ark., in 1945. He received a Bachelor of Science from Arkansas AM&N in 1952. He also received a Master of Education from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Smith was employed as a teacher for 17 years. He ended his career as a District Director for the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service. Mr. Smith was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He loved God, his family, golf, gardening and his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., where he was a member for 68 years. He leaves his wife, Mary Scott Smith. He also leaves his sister, Sara (James W., deceased) Hall, Fordyce, Ark.; three children, Ron (Veronica Harvey) Brown, Cordova, Tenn., Marylyn (Delton) Washington, Collierville, Tenn., and Reginald (Lois) Smith, Leawood, Kan.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at 10 a.m., followed by the Kappa Alpha Psi Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m., with the Funeral beginning at 11 a.m., at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3323 West 12th, Little Rock, Ark.. by Judge Wendell Griffin. Interment will be in Greenville Cemetery in Fordyce, Ark., by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the UAPB Foundation Fund, Joe C.
