Lawrence Allen Pfeifer, known to his loved ones as "Larry," "Dad," or "Grandpa," passed away on Dec. 24, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 46 years; his four children; seven grandchildren; a brother and sister; and a large loving family who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, and many friends and relatives. Larry was born in Chicago, Ill., on July 13, 1944, to Helen and James Pfeifer. Larry was working in Chicago as a computer operator for Johnson & Johnson when he was drafted into the army and stationed at West Point, where he taught computers to the cadets. Upon leaving the army, he returned to Johnson & Johnson where he met Peggy Muller. Both knew they had found someone incredible and married in 1971 after a whirlwind romance. His 35 years in information services at Johnson & Johnson brought Larry and his family from Chicago, to New Jersey, to Michigan, and finally to Northwest Arkansas where he eventually retired. In retirement, Larry enjoyed golfing, fishing, Corvettes, music, and volunteering for the Cancer Challenge. He loved playing cards, reading to his grandkids, and rooting for his beloved Cubbies. Larry could fix or build just about anything, and it was always done right! A Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Circle of Life Hospice, www.nwacircleoflife.com; the Cancer Challenge, www.cancerchallenge.com; or the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
