Alamara Venable "Gigi" Brown, age 96, of Sherwood, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2017. She was born to the late William Lemuel "Doll" and Hattie Strahan Peek on March 21, 1920 in Dierk's, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Wallace E. Venable; and siblings, Loit Peek, Russell Peek, Huel Peek, Baird Peek and Della Brock. She is survived by her three daughters, Phyllis (Keith) Wetsell, Donna (Wallace) Freeman and Marsha (Ronnie) Robinson; grandchildren, Barry Wetsell, Ande Wetsell, Ryan Wetsell, Darby McCormack, Brock Freeman, Brett Lukas, Amanda Taylor, Shane Robinson and Barry Robinson; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Anna Wetsell, Parker and Miles Wetsell, Alexa, Isabella and Sophia McCormack; Kaleb and Brigham Lukas, Presli and Jack Taylor; Tristan, Skylar and Taylor Robinson. Alamara was a fashionista and fondly known as a classy, sassy sweetheart. She loved gardening, playing the piano and spending time with her beautiful family. She was a 1938 graduate of Dierk's High School. A year after graduation, she married her childhood sweetheart, Wallace E. Venable, who was the manager of Venable Lumber Company and with him by her side, they raised three wonderful daughters. She taught them all the lessons in life that a girl should glean; some of which were, how to keep an immaculate home, how to dress to the tee, how to cook and eventually how to find the right man to marry. After Alamara's daughters finished high school, she took a job at the Colony Shop at the University Mall as a Retail Sales Manager. Alamara was a member at Levy United Methodist Church where she loved to sing in the choir and also served as past President of the WSCS. The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the staff at The Lakes at Maumelle Rehab and Health, for their tender loving care and their dedicated service. They would also like to thank Tracy Kematick, her at home caregiver of 4 years. They were best friends! Mrs. Connie for her loving touch and friendship to their mother. Words cannot express how grateful the family is to those who took such wonderful, loving care of their mother these last few months. The funeral service for Alamara Brown will be on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F.
