Irl H. Moreland, Jr., age 92, of 89 Sunset Drive, North Little Rock. A former Systems Engineer for the North Little Rock Electric Department died on January 3, 2017. He was born on Wednesday, November 12, 1924 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the son of Irl Hicks Moreland and Catherine B. (Cockman) Moreland. His beloved wife Flora Virginia (Dinkie) Moreland pre-deceased him on May 2, 2010, a brother James E. Moreland in 1987, his mother in 1960 and his father in 1974. Moreland, an employee of the North Little Rock Electric Department, retired after 26 ½ years of service. On January 12, 1987 and previously had been a 10 year engineering employee of the Arkansas Power and Light Company in England, Arkansas. He was a Veteran of World War II, having service in the chemical warfare branch with the 104th and 113th Chemical Companies in the European Theater in England, France and Belgium. He received a Meritorious Unit Award and World War II Victory Medal, European African, Middle Eastern Campaign with four Bronze Stars (Channel crossing on June 21, 1944). Moreland is survived by his sister, Roberta Moreland, niece, Corby Carlton, nephew, Roger Moreland, sister-in-law, Polly Moreland and cousin, Jean Value of Portland, Oregon. Services will officiated by Robert Wright, Christian Science Practitioner with the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Sherwood Funeral service will be held 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home. Moreland had organized and erected an 80 crypt community mausoleum in 1955 where he will be entombed in the Mulberry Cemetery, England, Arkansas on Saturday, January 7, 2017 following the funeral services.
