WANDA LOUISE SIMPSON, 87, of Little Rock, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017. She was born on April 21, 1929 in Joy, Ark., to the late Alice Irene Clay and Herman Garrison. Her early career included working for Gibson's in Little Rock and ended in retirement from UAMS, medical billing department, where she made life-long friends. Her southern hospitality was contagious and she encouraged all her family and friends to gather around the table whenever they entered her door. She loved to cook, visit with friends and family, garden, travel and make memories. Her grandchildren remember her not only for her fantastic meals, but her competitive nature. She never "let the grandkids win" – they had to earn it. She said being a good sport meant knowing how to be a good loser, not just a winner. She truly was a Proverbs 31 woman in every sense of the word! She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sister, Glen and Dewey Garrison and Dean Andrews. She is survived by a brother, Kenneth Garrison, a sister-in-law, Betty Simpson, her loving children, James M. "Jim" Simpson Jr. and wife, Karen of Little Rock; daughter, Pamela and husband, Dr. Craig Vire of Burleson, Texas; daughter, Brenda and husband, Preston Wright, of Little Rock; grandchildren, Caitlin and husband, Dr. Andrew West of Rogers; Allison and husband, Galan Hughes of Benton, Arkansas; Jillian and husband Austin King of Arkadelphia; Bryden, Lawson and Gannon Wright of Little Rock, three great-grandsons, Harrison & Hadley Hughes & Charlie West; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many family members and friends. Visitation is at noon and funeral service at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th st., Little Rock. Dr. Craig Vire will officiate. An online guestbook is available at www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com.
