Tommie L. Twitty, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2017. She was born November 9, 1930 in Edgemont, Arkansas to the parents of Theodore and Stella Davis. After moving to Texas, Tommie married E. Gordon Twitty on August 2, 1963 in Sparenberg, Texas. She dedicated her life to raising her three children, Linda, Teena, and Donna, and taking care of her family. Reading was her lifelong hobby, and she loved puttering in her garden until her health no longer allowed her that luxury. God looked down that Sunday morning And knew the time had come. To take you home to be with Him For your work on earth was done. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our heart. Your memory is our keepsake, and with that we will not part. God knew that you were ready, and so it came to be. He put His arms around you and whispered "come with Me." With tearful eyes, we watched you go and saw you fade away/ Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. You were a wife, Mom, Granny. To us you were "The Best!" You will be forever in our thoughts and always in our hearts. Tommie was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Stella Davis; her sister, Geraldine Wiseman; her brother, Clifton G. Davis; her loving husband of 49 years, Gordon Twitty; and her grandson, Gary S. Harding. She is survived by her three daughters: Linda Stodghill of Sherman, Texas; Teena Neptune and her husband, William of Fort Worth, Texas; and Donna Ashby and her husband, Stacy of Sachse, Texas, as well as four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at West Hill Cemetery with Chaplain Dennis Noblett officiating. There was no scheduled family visitation.
