John E. Cook

John E. Cook, 67, a resident of Atkins, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born April 21, 1949, in Little Rock, to John Edward and Dena Marie Gwin Cook. He was a graduate of North Little Rock High School, the University of Central Arkansas and Henderson State University. He taught math and technology for several years and later worked at Wayne Farms. John enjoyed repairing watches, old black and white movies, his cats, muscle cars and listening to music. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Anna Margaret Cook. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Lynn Cook of West Columbia, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica and Kevin Chin of Metairie, Louisiana and Jamie and Kyle Phillips of Kenner, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Mya, Kaylee and Will Cook, all of West Columbia and Megan and Emily Chin, both of Metairie; the mother of his children, Beverly Logan of Marrero, Louisiana; loving companion, Julie Williams of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017, at Humphrey Chapel with Mr. James Beard officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the chapel. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA.
