Del Lewis Brannon, known to most as "Pepsi", 89, passed away Jan. 13, 2017. He was born in Pine Bluff, Ark., March 31, 1927 to the late Del C. Brannon and Ruth Butler Brannon. He was raised by his maternal grandparents and his aunt Hazel "Sissy" Butler. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Sallye Murphy Brannon, two daughters, Deborah Temple (Greg) and Laura Shiver (John) of Little Rock. "Papa" left a legacy of five granddaughters, Laura Ashley Day, Sarah Beth Smart (Felix), Mary Kathryn Nelson (Scott), Mallory Brannon Shiver (fiance, Matt Abate) and Sally Shiver Clowers (Ted). He was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren, Hannah Day, Felix and Peyton Smart and Ella, Emmy and Finley Nelson. He had countless friends, all of whom he affectionately called "Pal". A Veteran of the US Navy, he served his country proudly in World War II and the Korean War. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff as well as the community of the place he was proud to call home his whole life. An avid outdoorsman, Pepsi especially enjoyed spending time at his hunting club, Mozart. He had a tender heart that touched the lives of many. He lived a full and wonderful life and his greatest joy was his family and friends, who he loved fiercely. His working career was in the financial sector with savings and loan associations, in management and executive positions with Southern Federal, First Federal of South Arkansas, and FirstSouth. Services are Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, 11 a.m., First United Methodist Church, Reverend Mike Morey officiating, with a reception to follow at the church.
