MELBA LUCILE DICUS THOMPSON, a life-long resident of North Little Rock, Ark. went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017. She was born on March 12, 1933 and was one of six children in the family of Leon and Virgie Dicus. She will be remembered by friends and family as a kind and caring Christian lady who thrived in every arena of life she participated in. She married Mr. C.B. Thompson in October of 1953 (the best catch he ever made) and for the next 63 years they served God, worked hard and enjoyed life together. Together they raised a family, built a business, served their church and community, went on adventures and trips and generally enhanced the welfare of everyone they met along the journey. As a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, church member, children's Sunday school teacher, church choir member, worker in the family business, etc. Melba was a true servant and an example of love, faithfulness and loyalty throughout her life. Proverbs 31 describes a virtuous woman and notes that her value is of far more worth than great riches. In many ways Mrs. Melba L. Thompson provided a living portrait of that virtuous woman. She is survived by her husband, C.B. Thompson, Jr.; children, Joyce E. Carter (Phillip) and Roy W. Thompson (Lindy); grandchildren, Ben Carter, Caleb Carter (Hope), Hunter Thompson (Taylor), Samuel Thompson and Haley Summerhill (Hayden); one great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Betty Robins (Richie) and Frank Dicus (Judy) and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Leon Ellis "Dike" Dicus, Jr., Joe Dicus, Mildred Dicus and Martha Worrell. Memorials may be made to the future building fund of Friendship Baptist Church, 10150 Brockington Road, Sherwood, Ark. 72120. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17th at Friendship Baptist Church in Sherwood. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 18th at the church. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
