David Louis DeBusk Sr. passed away at his home on January 14, 2017. He was born on January 27, 1934 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to Johnie Jacob DeBusk and Ollie Johnson DeBusk. A graduate of Heber Springs High School he attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway (now UCA) and later was a graduate of the Arkansas Military Academy. For many years he was an owner and partner in the Red River Feed Company in Heber Springs alongside his Father, Grandfather and Uncle. Mr. DeBusk was a member of First Baptist Church of Heber Springs where he served as a teacher and former Superintendent of the Sunday School and participated in many local and state organizations. David was a former President of the Heber Springs Lions Club, Deputy District Governor of the Lions Club, past Chairman of the Cleburne County Republican Party, Member of the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission, President of the Arkansas Egg Council, past Board member for J.B. Hunt Transport, an Alderman in Heber Springs and a 32° Mason. He served as Commander of the 172nd Engineer Maintenance Company of the Arkansas National Guard and retired after 20 years of service. He was grateful for his many friends and family members and always ready and willing to advise them in their endeavors with his great sense of good humor. Mr. DeBusk was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Wanda Moran DeBusk. He is survived by son, David L. DeBusk Jr. (Mitylene) of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Sara DeBusk Grundl (Peter) of Fayetteville, Ark.; six grandchildren, Daniel Grundl, Rachel Grundl, Sean Dudley, Peter Dudley, Asher Dudley and Mary Arwen, and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Gloria Duckworth of Heber Springs, Ark., and Johnelle Hunt of Rogers, Arkansas and brother, Dennis DeBusk of Springdale, Arkansas. Additionally he is survived by two stepdaughters, Sandra Graham (Ken Wyatt) and Karen Knebel (Chuck), two step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Heber Springs at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 18 with Dr. J.R. DeBusk officiating. A visitation will follow the ceremony.
