Virginia Delle Whittington Cammack, age 105, a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas went to be with her Lord on January 23, 2017 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born September 7, 1911 in Monticello, Arkansas, one of 11 children born to Lydia Mae Harley and Benjamin James Whittington. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Luther Sidney Cammack Sr. and her sons, Lt. James W. Cammack and Col. Luther (Luke) Cammack Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Ayleen and husband Bill Bequette who have a cattle farm in Farmington and live in Fayetteville; her daughter-in-law, Frances B. Cammack of Abilene, Texas; eight grandchildren: Luther Cammack III (Luke) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tom Cammack of Lubbock, Texas, Bethany Cammack of Jackson, Mississippi, Tami of Abilene, Texas, Wayne Bequette (Pat) of Albany, New York, Kim Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Pam Walsh (GW) of Rogers, Arkansas, Jill Faires (Doug) of Paris, Texas; 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Farmington Church of Christ, having previously been a member of the Center Street Church of Christ, where she taught Ladies' Bible class for 23 years before moving to Farmington to be near her daughter. She had been a resident of Northwest Arkansas since 1949, having taken Art courses from the Washington School of Art and later at the University of Arkansas. She taught Children's and Adult Art Classes in her home as well as Greenland and Farmington Public Schools and in the Adult Education Program in Fayetteville. In later years, she taught at the Council on Aging at Hillcrest Towers. She exhibited her art at the Labor Day Fair in Prairie Grove for over 40 years. She served as Past Presidents of Altrusa of Fayetteville and Ozark Artist and Craftsmen and for many years, Historian of Artists of Northwest Arkansas of which she was a charter member. She is known for her many pen and pencil drawings of old barns and buildings of Northwest Arkansas, as well as her original painting and use of pen/ink, pastels, oils and acrylic, batik and experimenting with many different combinations. Her students were guided and encouraged to create whatever their interest at the time. For years, she had a Children's Annual Art Show where she exhibited their artwork. Many have commented she taught them ‘Life Skills' along with art instruction and they didn't even know it until they grew up! She was also known for her vast ‘memory bank' and ability to recite poetry as well as playing the piano by ear. And even when her hearing and eyesight were failing greatly, she still gave out compliments and encouragement daily to everyone around. She moved to Peachtree Village in Farmington in 2008 after selling her home in Fayetteville where she had lived for 50 years. She then moved to Katherine's Place in 2012 after suffering a stroke. Visitation will be held 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2017 at Moore's Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at Farmington Church of Christ.
