Betty Jane Shepard

Betty Jane Park (Mahurin) Shepard, 90, of Little Rock, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. She was born on June 22, 1926 in Little Rock to Earl and Maude Park. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy in 1943 and St. Vincent Infirmary Nursing School in Little Rock in 1947. Mrs. Shepard worked in the nursing field until she retired in 1987. She was an avid reader and could do the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink. Mrs. Shepard enjoyed boating and camping at Lake DeGray, as well as traveling the United States with her husband Clifton in their RV. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant. Mrs. Shepard was preceded in death by her parents and brother, E.W., husband, Clifton Shepard and daughter, Charlotte Mahurin. She is survived by her daughter, Marti Mahurin Muller of Little Rock, son, DeWayne Mahurin and wife Donna of Little Rock; stepsons, Scott Shepard of Little Rock, Clif Shepard of Hensley, Andrew Shepard of Alexander and stepdaughter, Vicki Shepard of Indian Wells, Calif.; four grandchildren, Heather Mahurin Lockhart and husband Leland of Austin, Texas, Laine Mahurin Veach of Little Rock and Allison and Benjamin Muller of Conway and one great-grandchild, Lilly Veach of Little Rock. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Monday, January 30 followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. at Griffin, Leggett, Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock with Pastor Jeff Price officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Hills Cemetery, 1440 Stagecoach Road, Little Rock. The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the caregivers at the House of Three for their love and care of Mrs. Shepard over the past four years.
