George Angelo Pollan, age 79, of Fort Smith, Ark., passed away on Jan. 26, 2017. He was born Jan. 24, 1938 in Fort Smith to Cleve and Fern Pollan. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Clark Pollan. Carolyn was his sweetheart of 55 years. She loved and cared for him after he had a stroke four years ago. George went peacefully at his home with his family surrounding him. He had three children, Cee Cee Hollimon and husband Mark, Rob Pollan and his wife Nancy, and Todd Pollan, his deceased son. He had four grandchildren, Caroline Mings Reynolds and husband Rustin, Michael Mings, Max Pollan and Georgie Mings. He had one great grandchild, Claire Reynolds. He is survived by a sister Jean Lee Pollan Jones and four nieces. George lived an interesting and varied life. He loved his family and valued his friendships. He had many lifelong friends from his Fort Smith childhood years. His passion was quail hunting and watching his dogs work the hunt. His bird dogs were his second children. He was dedicated to creating the best game preserves for all wildlife and fishing. He was a gourmet chef. He loved to cook big meals for his family and friends. George was a Master Gardener and loved cooking the fresh vegetables from his garden. When he cooked, it was always amazing. He is well known for his "George Sauce", the special spice he invented and is still being made. He won 1st place for the chili cook off held at the state capitol for Governor Mike Huckabee's staff in 2001.
