Benjamin Franklin Smartt

REV. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN SMARTT "SPARKY" of Marche Community gained his new life in Heaven June 28, 2017 at Little Rock VA hospital. He was proud of his service in the USAF after which he had a long career serving in many varied occupations (baker, boat builder, clerk, insurance sales, minister and many others) before retiring from Super Wood. His proudest achievement, besides being a father and grandfather, was being one of the founding members (along with his wife Freda Faulkner, Johnny Tew, Brother Bob Wickliffe and their first small congregation) of the Morgan Full Gospel Church. He was born 18 Dec. 1938 (in the log cabin his grandfather built in Cleburne Co.) to Manuel and Mary Ann (Osburn) Smartt. Besides his wife of 48 years and his parents Ben was preceded in death by brothers Samuel and William and sisters Christenia, Mary Alice and Brenda Kay. He is survived by his daughter Lou Ann Sartin, two grandchildren Charles (Chip) Sartin Jr. and Jatonne Sartin, and two great grandchildren Charles (Trae) Sartin III and Savanna Sartin. He is also survived by a brother Calvin Smartt and sister Gracie Jayne, many nieces and nephews, his dachshund Blessing and a host of cousins and friends. And last but not least his McDonald's friends. Visitation Sunday July 2 at 2-4 p.m. at Morgan Full Gospel Church. Funeral Monday July 3 at 10 a.m. Morgan Full Gospel church. Graveside service and burial with military honors at 2 p.m. at Smartt Cemetery, Parma, Ark.,mPallbearers' Daniel Smart, Duane Potter, Daniel "Bizkit" Whatley, Randy Munns, David Gates, Bobby "B-Bop" Meeks, Paul "Tiger" Williams.
