Ronald Sherman Maxwell

Ronald Sherman Maxwell, age 75, of Oppelo, died July 1, 2017. He was born July 25, 1941, in Booneville to Hawley and Armetta Murphy Maxwell. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Morrilton. He attended Arkansas Boys State in high school and was a member of FFA. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. degree and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. For most of his career, Ron worked in sales for different agricultural and chemical companies, such as Planters, Union Carbide and Tide Products. Most recently, Ron worked in the oil and gas industry as a landsman through his own company. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lela Mary Calhoun Maxwell; two sisters, Viva Maxwell Cheney and Betty Maxwell Carson. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Ella and Jason B. Long of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his granddaughters, Eva Lucinda Long and Katherine Ruth Long; and his brother and sister-in-law, Hall and Judy Calhoun of Oppelo. The funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church in Morrilton with the Rev. Steve Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m., until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Jason Long, Mickey Mobley, Evan Mobley, Will Mobley, Frank Cornett and Rickey McGee.
