Fern Brown

Fern Vivian Brown went to be with our Lord on July 7, 2017. She was born in Searcy County, Ark., on Feb. 29, 1924 to Clarence Viney and Ollie Viney (Fortner). After graduating from Western Grove High School, she moved to Wichita, Kan., and worked as a "Rosy The Riveter" at the Boeing Company helping build B-29 bombers for the World War II war effort. She subsequently joined the Army Cadet Nursing Corps nurse training program and spent a long career in the nursing field in Houston, Texas and Harrison, Ark. She is survived by her sister, Mary Hancock and her nephew and caretaker Dwight David Hancock of Lowell, Ark., her brother, Daniel Viney, of Palmdale, Calif.; and numerous other nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John O'Conner Brown and six siblings. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 12, at Cauffman Funeral Home in Harrison, Ark., from 10-11 a.m. A graveside service will be held for family following visitation. Interment will be at Glenncoe Cemetery in Pindall.
