Linda Kathryn Muse was born September 8, 1939 in Pine Bluff to the late Harry and Inez Hawkins. Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry L. Muse, MD, of Jonesboro; one daughter; Dana L. and husband Kevin Rouse, MD, of Jonesboro and one son: Timothy E. and wife Melisa Muse of Little Rock; three grandchildren: Madison Rouse of Jonesboro, Jackson Rouse of Jonesboro, and Jakob Muse of Little Rock; six sisters: Anita Gardiner of Winchester, Va., Mary Preseley of Topeka, Kan., Ann Brown of Cummings, Georgia, Billie Massey of North Little Rock, Gail Matthews of Fordice, Dorothy Milner of Dallas, Texas; and multiple nieces and nephews. Linda graduated from high school in North Little Rock in1957 and Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in North Little Rock in 1959. Her first job was at Children's Hospital in Little where she met a medical student, Jerry Muse that she later married in 1966 after he finished his medical training and two years in the U.S. Army as a doctor. She went to TCU in Ft. Worth for a year and received a BS degree in Nursing. After her marriage September 10, 1966, she lived in Piggott where she resided for almost 50 years. She joined the First Baptist Church in which she was a very active member. Linda taught Sunday school, GA's, sang in the choir with occasional solos. She was a great mentor to many young girls. She worked as an R.N. in the hospital, outpatient clinic, and home health. She really enjoyed oil painting while also painting many beautiful pictures. Linda traveled extensively to Israel, India, Romania, Europe, Brazil and performed medical mission work in most of these countries. She went Guatemala as a missionary 15 years in a row working as a nurse. She then developed Alzheimer's disease five to six ago bringing to an end a wonderful life that she lived and a legacy worth remembering. She was a wonderful wife and friend and will be missed greatly. A visitation will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 12-2 pm at Central Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Central Baptist Church with Brother Larry Bailey officiating. A second visitation will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Piggott followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. in Piggott Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include: Gary Swift, David Swift, Jakob Muse, Tim Muse, Jackson Rouse, and Kevin Rouse.
