Jossie Lee Flowers departed this life Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Born in Fort Smith on May 13, 1936 to Ocie Mae Adams Jackson and Amos Jackson Sr. She was raised in Fayetteville. Jossie graduated from Lincoln High School, Fort Smith, Ark. and Velvatex Beauty College, Little Rock, Ark. She married George W. Flowers. Jossie worked for many years at the University of Arkansas (Delta Gamma House, Women's Gym and Barnhill Arena), affording her children the opportunity to start their education at Peabody Elementary. She also worked in various local factories, Campbell Soup, Mexican Original and George's. Jossie, a carpenter, and through this ministry often utilized homeless and recovering persons to assist with various jobs while building her home. She loved riding, meeting and talking to people on the local transit. Preceding her in death, her husband; one son, Gregory Flowers- April 18, 2017; her parents; and two siblings. She is survived by one son, George Flowers of Fayetteville; one daughter, Tommie (Lawrence) Davis of Little Rock; and one sister, Andretta Fisher of Fayetteville. Jossie has 12 grandchildren (seven biological); nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. A special thank you to the Fayetteville Police Department for treating her with dignity and respect, Doug, her carpenter and friend and Deana her special daughter, physical therapist and "Life Coach". She is an amazing Lady who will be missed by many. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2017 at Beard's Chapel with Minister Blandine "Deana" Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the funeral home.
