Arlene Mae (Golick) Worms, of North Little Rock, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home Care, West Little Rock, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 – her 90th birthday. She was born July 18, 1927, in New Baden, Illinois, the daughter of the late Anthony and Irene Golick. She married Lt. Col. Delmar A. Worms, USAF, Ret., of Mascoutah, Illinois, on February 14, 1946, and they remained happily married for over fifty years until his death in 1996. Making a thirty year career of the Air Force, she and Del enjoyed immensely their travels to overseas assignments in Puerto Rico, Paris, Belgium, and throughout the United States. They spent their retirement years in the home they built in the Indian Hills area of North Little Rock. Arlene also spent many active years later at Parkstone Place and Fox Ridge Senior Living before entering Hospice Home Care prior to her passing. Arlene always had a gift for making those around her feel special. Those who were lifelong friends, or just short term acquaintances, always commented on her kind and giving nature. To know her was to always call her a friend. In her military years with Del, she was very active as a volunteer Gray Lady at base hospitals and clinics, and could always be counted on to help others in countless base organizations. Her passions were many, including riding horses in her younger years and when they lived in Puerto Rico, many friends at North Hills Country Club, and the family cabin at Greer's Ferry Lake. But her lifelong passion was bridge, which she played often and enjoyed immensely. She is survived by her son, Cdr. Brent L. Worms, USN, Ret. and daughter-in-law, Michelle Kasper of Zeeland, Michigan; daughter, Brenda Highfill and son-in-law, Michael of North Little Rock; grandson, Scott Highfill and gt. grandson Miles Highfill of North Little Rock; grandson, Mark F. Gage of New York City; grandson, Eric Magee Gage and Katherine Norem and great-grandson, Soren James Gage of Chicago; former daughter-in-law, Marty Magee of Omaha, Nebraska; former daughter-in-law, Shannon and Eric Legate of North Little Rock; sister-in-law, Ms. Marjorie J. Worms of Mascoutah, Illinois; niece, the Rev. Jan S. Worms of Mascoutah; nephews, Ron Golick and Dan Golick of St. Louis; and nephew, Gerald K. and Sandra Worms of O'Fallon, Illinois. In addition to her husband and parents, Arlene is preceded in death by her brother, Anthony "Bud" Golick and sister-in-law, Mary Golick of St. Louis; brother-in-law, Elfred M. Worms of Mascoutah; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Irvin and Alberta Worms of Mascoutah; grandsons, Brad and Chad Worms; grandparents, John and Anna Billhartz of New Braden; and in-laws, Arthur and Laura Worms of Mascoutah.
