Helen Margaret Daniel

Helen Margaret "Peggy" Daniel (Page), of Little Rock, died Friday, July 21, 2017. Peggy was born January 30, 1922, in Little Rock to Christian Delva Page and Helen Margaret Page (Gifford). She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Branton Guthrie "Dan" Daniel, and her siblings, Clarence Dee Page, Mary Elizabeth Fiser, and Harry Vincent "Sam" Page. She is survived by her children, Eleanor Anne Daniel and Branton Page Daniel, her grandchildren, Helen Wanita Daniel and Margaret Bliss Hanlin, and her great-grandchildren Miri and Jack. Peggy grew up in Sweet Home and graduated from Little Rock Senior High School. For fifteen years, she had a store in the Battery Street neighborhood. She and Dan worked in partnership to display and merchandize goods with Walmart in the company's infancy. Subsequently, Peggy accepted a position with chain of florists, both managing stores and designing. Peggy always prioritized others, family and otherwise, frequently at her own expense. She treated everyone warmly and respectfully. She openly welcomed all to her store during the Little Rock Central High School desegregation crisis, including advertising the Arkansas State Press. She was a member of the Women's Emergency Committee. Peggy was a lifelong member of Primrose United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women. She cooked years of Wednesday Night Suppers for the church community and its neighbors. She used her experience building her Arch Street home and her classic sense of style on the building committee for the church's present-day sanctuary. She donated over 1,000 pieces that she personally knit to the Compassion Center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, at Primrose United Methodist Church, 3006 W. Dixon Rd., with interment to follow at Primrose Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Food Bank or to Arkansas Children's Hospital. An online guestbook www.griffinleggettresthills.com.
