Mary Jo Erwin Irby, age 87, of Nashville, Tenn. died Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Nashville, Tenn. She was born May 12th, 1930 in New Edinburg, Ark. a daughter of the late Jones Hoyle Erwin and Emeline Boyce Erwin. She was a retired elementary school teacher with 29 years of service in Davidson County, a member of the Belmont First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Upsilon Chapter and a graduate from Peabody of Vanderbilt University. Mary Jo's loved her Church and reading her bible, spending time with family and friends. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a good friend, and always thinking of others first. She touched so many lives. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jessie David Irby whom she married March 9th, 1963 in Little Rock, Ark. at Central Presbyterian Church and he died November 11th, 1978. Brothers and sisters, James Erwin, Samuel Erwin, William Erwin, Thomas Erwin, Laura Shaw and Walter Erwin also preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Irby Shinn and spouse Robert, Lewisburg, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Katherine Elaine Crabtree and John David Crabtree all of Lewisburg, Tenn., two bonus grandchildren, Michael Avery Shinn, Franklin, Tenn. and Elizabeth Ann Shinn, Murfreesboro, Tenn.
