After a stunning and heroic fight during the last 2.5 years – Charles Jeffrey (Jeff) Bullard - a profile of grace, courage, humor and optimism - passed away from Stage 4 colon cancer on June 8, 2017, at his home in Los Angeles, Calif. While death came way too early to this robust, vital "force of nature", no one packed in as much life, adventure and love in 53 years as did Jeff Bullard. Jeff was born July 21, 1963, in Little Rock, AR, to the late Allen and Betty Ann Bullard. When Betty Ann's cigarette ashes accidentally fell on 1-yr old Jeff's curly locks, that was the end of cigarette smoking for his mother! The fourth of five siblings, Jeff made it his #1 priority to stay connected with his family – making numerous trips home to Little Rock, hosting family in Los Angeles with incredibly cool activities, and for sure, garnering the "funnest uncle" vote, according to his four nieces and three nephews! A tremendous athlete throughout his life, Jeff started out at age 7 as the fastest running back on the Junior Deputy peewee football team. Over the course of years, Jeff cross-country biked from California to Little Rock, ran numerous marathons, participated in triathlons, biked in Italy, swam religiously, hiked, played tennis, and – in his early 30's – became forever obsessed with golf! Jeff attended public schools in Little Rock, graduating from Little Rock Central High in 1981. During high school, Jeff spent a year in Stuttgart, Germany as an American Field Service (AFS) exchange student. He then began his college career at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, transferring his sophomore year to UCLA, and graduating there in 1986 with a degree in Communications. His first job out of college was a 1-year stint working on the sitcom set of "Family Ties". The following year Jeff received a Rotary International Fellowship to study in Vienna for a year. Back in California, Jeff dabbled in several professions before settling into a long-term career as a computer consultant. Due to his consummate communication skills and extraordinary understanding of Mac and PC technology, Jeff's business grew and grew over the years. He helped celebrities, businesses, art museums, and individuals – making lasting friendships along the way with many of his clients. Wanting to give back to the community, Jeff tutored elementary students weekly in the LA public schools for years…and the kids loved him! Jeff was a voracious reader, loved and shared with his friends all types of music, and had more knowledge on a variety of topics than most folks. He charmed all who were around him – strangers and friends alike – and his wit and humor were matchless. Every friend (and yes, every sibling) were unequivocally certain that he or she was Jeff's FAVORITE friend/sibling! He lived and loved life, friends and family BIG. His impact on hundreds and hundreds of people's lives is an enviable legacy. Jeff is survived by his loving ex-wife, Cynthia Forchielli, and by his four siblings, Katherine Melhorn, Eleanor Pella (Peter), Will Bullard (Ellen), and Phillip Bullard (Brandi). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews – Sadie, Hannah, Henry, Helen, Fox, Edith and Ash. Memorials may be made in Jeff's memory to AFS-USA, Inc., National Development Office, 120 Wall St., 4th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10005.
