Wayne Paul Wessels

Wayne Paul Wessels, 85, of Altheimer, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 23, 1932 in Stuttgart, son of Paul and Esther Nofziger Wessels. Mr. Wessels was reared and received his early education in Stuttgart. He attended Monticello A&M. He served in the United States Army in Korea. Mr. Wessels operated Wessels Brothers Farm. He served on the Board of Directors for Producers Rice Mill Incorporation in Stuttgart. He was a member of Wabbaseka United Methodist Church. Mr. Wessels enjoyed collecting coins, knives and arrowheads. Mr. Wessels was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Douglas Wessels; granddaughter, Julie Wessels; and brother, Kenneth Wessels. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Eichler Wessels, whom he married March 23, 1956 in Stuttgart; son, Scott Leon Wessels (Kaye) of Stuttgart; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Tom Smithwick and Reverend George Michael officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. until service time at Robinson's. Online register: www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
