Mr. Caleb Virgil Brunson, 82, of Pine Bluff went Home to be with the Lord, Tuesday July 21, 2017 while at home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The seventh of eight children, Mr. Brunson was born June 19, 1934 to the late Virgil and Lillie Brunson. Mr. Brunson attended Stone School in Jefferson county until eight grade. He attended and graduated from Merrill High School in Pine Bluff in 1955. Shortly after high school, Mr. Brunson was drafted in the US Army where he served for 6 years. Mr. Brunson obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture and General Science from AM&N College now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Mr. Brunson also holds a Masters Degree in Social Studies from Texas A&M, a Masters Degree in Guidance, from Ouachita Baptist University and a Specialty in Administration from Henderson State University. Mr. Brunson devoted over 30 years to the Arkansas Public School Systems, as a teacher at Clow-Washington School District, a High School Principal at Altheimer School District and Superintendent at both Oak Grove and Wabbaseka School District. Upon retirement from the school systems, Mr. Brunson worked for a brief period of time at the Department of Human Services and served as the Activities Coordinator with the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He was also a proud Member of The Royal Knights Society, and The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Brunson now reunites with his wife, Ruby Brunson in eternity. They were married for over 50 years before her passing in July 2016. They are survived by four children, Eric Brunson of Pine Bluff, Ark., Undra' (Tewanna) Brunson of Little Rock, Ark., Kenya (Marvin) Harris of Plano, Texas and Caleb Adrain (Raini) Brunson of Lanham, Md.; two brothers, Solomon Brunson of Flint Mich., and Garland (Mae) Brunson of Pine Bluff, Ark., a sister Priscilla Jones of Portland, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Fern Scoggins of Nashville, Ark..; and a brother-in-law, Bennie (Dorthy) Mitchell of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren and a whole host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday July 1, at Barraque Street Baptist Church, where Pastor Lloyd Holcomb is the Pastor. Pastor Timothy Pratt of Wheeler Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will be officiating the ceremony. Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Visitation/Family hour will be Friday, 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. The Family will be at 3909 Little John's Drive, Pine Bluff, Ark. 71603.
