Mike Bajorek departed this life on Monday, November 6, 2017. A veteran's honor walk escorted his body from the VA Hospice, covered by an American flag. He was born in 1929 to Thaddeus and Agnes (Piechocki) Bajorek. He is survived by his wife Carol Bajorek, daughters Linda (John) Webb, Vickie (Owen) Colford, and Carol Justice, six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also left to cherish his memory are stepchildren: Keith (Jennifer) Wenger, Karen (David) Singleton, Steve (Brooke) Wenger, Jeff (Stephany) Wenger, Chris (Mandy) Wenger, Evan (Monica) Ehemann, 17 grandchildren, as well as special nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Martha Bennett Bajorek, daughter Kathleen de Bettencourt; brothers Felix, Adolf, Aloysius and Hubert Bajorek; sisters Philomena Bajorek, Elizabeth McGlasson and Florence Martone. Mike worked at Koehler's Bakery while attending North Little Rock High School, graduated in 1947, and worked for the railroad before joining the Army. He served as a weapons instructor during the Korean War. He worked with Metropolitan Insurance before opening his Shelter Insurance office and gained the trust and friendship of hundreds of people around the state in his 37 years of business. Mike was an active member of Saint Patrick's Church for many years, serving as President of the Parish Council and Men's Club as well as various boards and committees. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Mike spent his retirement doing what he loved best: fishing, boating, tackling projects, watching football, travelling the world, and spending time with family and friends at Greers Ferry Lake. He loved watching the grandkids grow into adults and cherished every conversation with them. The family wishes to thank Jennifer with Arkansas Hospice. Also, Dr. Halim, Kim, Sharon and the amazing staff with VA Hospice for their excellent care during his battle with lung cancer. Visitation will be held at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home, 7700 Hwy. 107, Sherwood on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 6:30 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m. The Memorial Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Little Rock at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8th.
