Frances Beatrice Jones

Frances B. Jones, 84, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully at the Arkansas Heart Hospital on November 2, 2017. She was born January 7, 1933 in Newport, Arkansas to Clifford and Ruth Pelley Jones. She graduated from Arkansas State University and with a Master's Degree, began her career as a teacher. She taught at many schools around Central Arkansas before retiring. She then began her career at the Arkansas Gazette working in the printing press department and was a member of the Communications Workers Association. She retired from the Gazette, but continued in the journalism field. Frances also belonged to the Dog Writers" Association of America, and wrote several columns and stories about dogs. Her passion for dogs led her to join the Arkansas Kennel Club where she showed and also judged many dog shows. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jewel Chapter #362. Frances enjoyed reading about the latest medical knowledge, learning about her genealogy, and raising awareness for Gastro Paresis and Cleliac Disease. Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Melissa Magness South and a niece Cindy South Conway. She left behind a nephew, Byron South (Dara) and a niece, Patricia Storf (Andy), five half-sisters, several great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, her dear friends; Betsy Hall, Phyllis and Stephanie Jira, and cherished neighbors, the Corney family as well as many friends and family. Frances wished to be cremated. There will be no funeral service at this time but the family will have a celebration of life get together later.
