Helen Cornelia Whitlow Mitchell

Mrs. Helen Cornelia Whitlow Mitchell was born March 21, 1926 to Chester and Cornelia Whitlow in Little Rock, Ark. She confessed Christ as her Savior and Lord at an early age. She was the youngest of five children. She transitioned to her heavenly home on November 9, 2017 at 7:20 a.m. Mrs. Mitchell was married to the late Mr. Burley Mitchell, Jr., on April 9, 1947 and to this union three daughters and two sons were born. Helen had the pleasure of being a caregiver for 30 years to a generation of children throughout the Little Rock area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burley Mitchell Jr. and son, Burley Whitlow Mitchell; and sisters, Ruby Whitlow Waugh, Mildred Whitlow Jones and Elsie Whitlow Stokes. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Lana Mitchell Meitzenheimer, son, Jeffrey Mitchell (DeLisa) and daughter, Tanya Barton Edwards (Robert) of Little Rock, Ark., and Kim Mitchell Wesley (Waymond) of Houston, Texas. She also leaves to cherish her memory 16 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Family hour will be Sunday, 11/12/17, 4-5 p.m., at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, Little Rock, Ark., (501) 372-1305. Funeral services will be Monday, 11/13/17 at 10 a.m., St. Mark Baptist Church, 5722 W. 12th Street. Interment will follow in Little Rock National Cemetery on Confederate B'lvd. Services entrusted to Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home.
