Richard C. "Dick" Schroeder

Richard C. "Dick" Schroeder, age 87, has graduated into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. By believing and holding on to Phil.3:14, "I press on toward the goal, for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." He was born June 26, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pa., to Walter and Martha Schroeder. Rather than going to college, he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1948. After schooling, he became a crew chief at Andrews Air Force Base but only for a short time. Because of his background, he was chosen to go into Air Force Intelligence. After eight weeks of briefing at the Pentagon, he was sent to Germany as a part of the 7057 Air Intelligence Squadron. His work dealt with interrogating German prisoners of war, then translating the information into English. This work lasted three years. He continued serving during the Korean War until 1953. After his military service, he worked for a commercial and industrial painting corporation beginning at an entry level and becoming president and owner after 30 years. The company served all of Delaware Valley (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware). He was an avid motorcyclist for more than 50 years and was an active member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Joanne; his daughter, Kristen Sue; his second adoring wife of almost nine years, Annette; and his brother, Hans Walter Schroeder. He is survived by two sons, Mark and his wife Betty and Gary and Sharon; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all living in Pennsylvania and New Jersey; a sister, Doris Czworkski; two nieces, Karen and Glenn Dixon, and Cherie and Rick Moyer; one nephew, John and Fawn Schroeder; three stepsons, Kyle, Matthew, and Mark of Mena, Ark.; one step-daughter, Christy, and husband, David, of Farmington, Ark.; and a total of eleven step-grandchildren. A Graveside service will be held noon Friday Nov. 17 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with full military honors, with Pastor Lee Myane officiating. Cremation and all arrangements by Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Prairie Grove First United Methodist Church; St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.; or one of your choice.
