James Rogers

James Rogers, son of the late Willie and Leola Rogers, was born May 7, 1925, in Dumas, Ark. James attended Dumas public school in Dumas, Ark. He later attended Dunbar Junior College in Little Rock, Ark. He was united in marriage to Birdie Que Rogers on May 14, 1949. To this union, two children were born: son, James Earl Rogers "Lil James"; and daughter, Euphase Z. Rogers Lewis. James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Birdie Que Rogers; two sisters, Nellie Jane Hunt and Ida Mae Everett; two brothers, Willie Rogers, Jr., and Nathaniel Rogers. James is survived by daughter, Euphase Z. Rogers Lewis of Sherwood, Ark.; son, James E. Rogers of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Joseph A. Lewis Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Tiffany Lewis of Sherwood, Ark.; two sisters, Earslean Freeman, Toledo, Ohio, Lillie Lee Kemp, Atlanta, Ga., and a host of nieces and nephews. Home going services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, 11am, at St. Peter's Rock, 2201 Brown Street, Little Rock, Ark. Family visitation: Friday, November 17, 2017, 6-7 p.m., at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 South Chester St., Little Rock, Ark. (501) 372-1305. Interment with honors Monday, November 20, 2017, 11 a.m., at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 Maryland Ave. North Little Rock, Ark.
