Betty Jane Roberts

BETTY JANE ROBERTS was born on Feb. 24, 1945, to George W. Harper and Sara Louise Riggs in Temple, Ga. Betty departed life on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017. She married David Maguffey on Feb. 26, 1963, in Kissimee, Fla. They were married for 18 years. Her daughter Tammy, was born Jan. 19, 1964. David and Betty moved to DeWitt, Ark., in 1967 where Betty lived until 1997. On Dec. 21, 1997, she married Jon Roberts at his mother's home in Big Flat, Ark. Jon and Betty resided in Stuttgart until their move to Jacksonville, Ark., in 2006. Betty was a retired Pharmacy Tech (Economy Drug, DeWitt; Stuttgart Walmart; and Chambers Drug, Jacksonville. Betty was an active member of her church, First Presbyterian in Jacksonville, Ark.; serving as the "Sunshine Girl", Mission Committee and Choir member. She was a past Matron of the Stuttgart Eastern Star Chapter #102, past Matron Jacksonville Eastern Star Chapter #520, dual with Cabot Eastern Star Chapter #508, member of the Grand Choir, and Escort for Jon at all functions. Lastly, she was a member of Jacksonville, Ark., T.O.P.S. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband. Betty is survived by her husband Jon of Jacksonville, her brother Bob Garlock (Elizabeth) of New York, brother Bill Garlock of Greenwood, Ark., sisters Betty Jo (William) Landum of LaFayette Ala., Peggy Bright of Mulberry, Ark., and Betty Jo Hesson of Cedarville, Ark.. Daughter Tammy Lee (Dennis) of Hot Springs Village, Ark.. Grandchildren Damon (Holly) of DeWitt, Ark.,, and Ashley (Robert) Suhajda of Leander, Texas. Great-Grandchildren Noah, Gabi, Elly, and Jonathan. Jocelyn Roberts (Zaid Ismail) and their daughters Naaziyah and Naadirah of Johannesburg, South Africa and Gregory Roberts of Jacksonville, Ark. Best friend Mary Spencer of Jacksonville. Sister-in-Law Marjorie Kesl and brother-in-law Don Kesl of Sherwood whom Betty considered close friends. Lastly, her very much loved (and highly spoiled) dogs Rufus and Lucy. Yes, you read the above correctly: Betty and her sister Betty and her other sister Betty. We are from the south. Services will be at First Presbyterian Church, 1208 Main St., Jacksonville, Ark., on Nov.20, 2017, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of cut flowers, the family requests for donations be made to your local animal shelter. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, Jacksonville, Ark.
