Jimmy David McWhorter, age 70 of Star City passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 at his home in Star City. He was born on Dec. 3, 1946 to the late Howard Fred McWhorter and Lula Virginia Burns McWhorter. He was a retired supervisor for Anthony Timberlands and a member of Yorktown Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Fred McWhorter and a daughter, Teresa Renee McWhorter. Jimmy went to work straight out of high school drilling water wells with his father. He then moved on to work at Wilson Lumber Company in Monticello as a sawyer, from there he worked at Ray White Lumber Co. in Sparkman as a foreman. He then went to work at Anthony Timberlands in Beirne as a supervisor where he retired. His true love was hunting, fishing and spending time working on the farm and looking at the cows. He is survived by his wife, Markaleta Marie Knobloch McWhorter; his daughters, Cindy Marie Launius and husband Billy of Sparkman and Barbara Ann Holstead and husband Bill of Star City; his son, Mark David McWhorter of Star City; grandchildren, Ashley Nowlin and husband David of Sparkman, Cecilia Berry and husband Michael of Sparkman and Beau Henry of Sparkman; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Cole Nowlin, Kesley and Chloe Berry and Kinsley Henry. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 at First Baptist Yorktown with Rev. Robert Green and Rev. Jacob Ricker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Yorktown.
