James Russell Robinson

James Russell Robinson, age 92, of Casa, Ark., passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2017. He was born May 5, 1925 in Casa, Ark., a son of the late James Robert Robinson and the late Mary Ellen Clay Robinson. He was a timber logger, cattle and poultry farmer, a member of the Casa Church of Christ, and a WWII Army Veteran. He landed on the Japanese island of Okinawa on Easter Sunday 1945 with the 96th infantry dead eye division. He was wounded on Conical Hill May 21. He received two Bronze Stars, Victory Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, and a Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife: Evelyn Honeycutt Robinson; sons: Benny and Lana Robinson of Dardanelle and Bob Robinson and June Gilbert of Casa; grandsons: Ethan (Tiffini), Matt, Clay (Tanya), and Blake (Jessica) Robinson; great-grandchildren: Hayden Evans, Jordan Duncan, Coby, Noah, Avery, Cali, and Abby Robinson; two nephews: Tommy and Danny Merritt; three nieces: Norma Jean Humphreys, Pat Steele, and Devetta Robinson. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister: Jewell Merritt, and one nephew: Ronald Honeycutt. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at Casa Church of Christ with Bro. Neil Chism and Ethan Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Casa Cemetery.
