Raymond Otto Benton, 84 of Centerton, Ark. died on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017 at Circle of Life Hospice – Legacy Village, Bentonville, Ark. He was born on April 28, 1933 in Willow Springs, Mo., to John W. Benton & Ella Mildred (Schureman) Benton. He and his wife, Ellen, retired in Bella Vista over 20 years ago. Ray had a full career as a forester with the U.S. Forrest Service, appropriately chosen, as he loved and appreciated nature in every way. His career allowed him and his family the opportunity to live in and enjoy several cities and states in the United States. He spent his free time golfing, hunting, camping, fishing and sharing the love of photography with his wife. Ray was active in the Bella Vista Fly Tyers and was recently awarded an honorary lifetime membership. Ray and Ellen were also members of the Bella Vista Photography club for many years. Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ellen R. Benton He is survived by his son, Bradley A. Benton; daughter, Toni R. Hyde; sister, Helen L. Birdsong; half-brother, Mike Benton; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel with the chaplain Beth Snyder officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice – Legacy Village, 1201 NE Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, AR 72712. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
