Charles Louis Ormond, age 84, of Morrilton, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 following his battle with AML cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years: Shirley Jackson Ormond; the sparkle of his eyes, daughters: Shannan (George) Waddell of Little Rock, Scarlett Ormond of Harrison, Michelle (Michael) Siefert of Springfield, Mo., and Mary Pat Milligan of Summerville, S.C.; his links to immortality are his cherished grandchildren: Stella, Sterling, and Louis Waddell, Julian and Canyon Willard, Brodie Ormond, Brian, Kaitlin, and Tracy Milligan; his sister: Ella Ann (Flave) Peters; his beloved niece and nephew: Ormond (Patricia) Peters and Martha Ann (John) Kooistra, and their children. The son of the late Lela Oates and Arthur V. Ormond, Charles was born Dec. 30, 1932 in Morrilton, graduated from Morrilton High School and was team member of football, track, and band. During high school he was a Lone Eagle Scout. As a University of Arkansas student, he was a member of the Razorback marching band, and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Charles was a licensed insurance agent, and owned Ormond Insurance Agency in Morrilton, which was founded in 1929 by his late father. He was a real estate agent, founder of SoundMasters, commercial property owner, farmer, world traveler, an organizer, and a current director of Petit Jean State Bank. Charles began his lifetime history of volunteerism and community service first as a fighter pilot, being an Air Force Veteran, and was a recipient of Air Force Defense and Air Force Commendation Medals. After serving his country, upon his return to Morrilton, he served on boards of many organizations and was a generous benefactor of his time and talent to the Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce, Director of Conway County Industrial Development Corporation, Morrilton Jaycees, Friends of the Library, Morrilton Lions Club, Arkansas River Basin Association, Levee Districts of Conway County, President of Elmwood Cemetery Association, Ouachita Girl Scout Council, and Quapaw President Boy Scout Council. He was elected to the Arkansas State Legislature, in 1981, 2001, 2003, 2005, where he chaired and served on various House committees. Charles was the originator of the Morrilton Airport, serving on its Commission, and worked tirelessly in the actual construction. Being an avid pilot, was a member of the Quiet Birdmen organization. "The eagle has taken his final flight." He enjoyed tennis, swimming, chess, backgammon, skiing, and his "Harrison coffeeshop" men's group. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Harrison, Ark. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Harris Chapel with Pastor Jim Huffman officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Hall Calhoun III, Charles "Bud" Grisham, Ronnie King, Charles Penick, Dr. James Bryan, and John Maus. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons: Julian Willard, Canyon Willard, Louis Waddell, and Brodie Ormond. The family would like memorial donations made to the Elmwood Cemetery Association, P.O.
