Jean Copeland Jackson, 89, of Dermott went to her eternal home on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. She was born May 9, 1928 in Dermott, Arkansas to late Howard and Alma Burchfield Copeland. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Bub Jackson, infant son, Jimmy Jackson; three sisters, Charlene Proffitt, Marjorie Rodgers, and Bonnie Tucker. She is survived by two daughters; Carole Jean Harper of Hot Springs and Jill Jackson of Dermott; two grandchildren; Heath (Brooke) Harper of Little Rock and Heather Harper of Monticello; three great-grandsons; Finch, Ellis and Hayes Harper all of Little Rock; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Jean was a proud native of Dermott. Graduating in 1946, marrying in 1951 and raising her family there. Jean was a beautician for 46 years but also loved to serve her church and community in her spare time. She was a member of Dermott Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Youth Choir Director, WMU, and Dermott Woman of the Year in 1990, past president of Dermott Chamber of Commerce, volunteered at many Crawfish Festivals, worked the voting polls and involved in the PTO. Jean loved to travel, play games, watch her birds, anything about history and spend time with her family and friends. Visitation will be held at Dermott Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 29, from 5-7 p.m. and funeral services will be 2p.m. Thursday, November 30, at Dermott Baptist Church with Bro. Steven Tiner officiating. Burial will follow in Dermott City Cemetery under the direction of Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village, Arkansas.
